Dr. Guimont’s Vision
Microcurrent technology has been shown to improve ATP production and stimulate metabolism. A surprising side effect has been shown to relieve anxiety disorders. This phenomenon is apparent in the everyday practice her clinic, but Dr. Guimont has not had the time or know-how to manifest this observation into a formal study.
Concurrently, she is noticing veterans returning from the war in Iraq are showing early signs of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She feels compelled to treat these soldiers early so a minimal intervention is required for them to return to normal civilian life. Use of microcurrents in this capacity has not been well studied and is therefore not reimbursed by insurance companies.
Lab Coat Innovations Does the Heavy Lifting
Dr. Guimont’s vision is easily executed with the software and services of Lab Coat Innovations. The first step is to make a case that microcurrent technology effectively treats the symptoms of PTSD. Aligning with the current body of literature, Dr. Guimont is commissioning a study to measure anxiety in patients before and after treatments. Patient responses are collected via ClinicResearch. Total time to plan and execute this idea was four weeks.
Looking forward, her practice is not large enough to facilitate the number of patients required to achieve statistical significance. Working with colleagues in the area and nationally, ClinicResearch will be used to bring these colleagues together. Chiropractors from all over will enroll patients in Dr. Guimont’s study.
Lab Coat Services are used to do periodic data analysis and handle institutional review board procedures. Dr. Guimont hasn’t noticed a change in her day to day activities or her bottom line.
Using the services and software of Lab Coat Innovations, Dr. Guimont is well on her way to realizing her vision of treating veterans and establishing the efficacy of using microcurrents in the treatment of PTSD.
